"We are in a recession. Inflation, especially food and gas prices, is beginning to eat up people's budgets while unemployment is rising. There can be no doubt that things are much worse today than they were just a few years ago.

Unfortunately, most members of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, are beginning to advocate solutions such as rationing gas, raising taxes, and bailing out failing financial institutions. These actions are nothing short of recipes for disaster.

The only way to begin fixing this mess is to cut taxes heavily, cut non-essential government services, end the billions we waste overseas, and reduce burdensome government regulation. This will free up the creative energy of the American people and take an enormous burden off their backs. In the end, it is the American people who will solve this current economic crisis, not the government."
